In addition, the company’s Redbridge took home a gold medal as the best gluten-free beer and Michelob Brewing Co.’s Michelob AmberBock received a bronze medal in the European-style Dunkel category. Anheuser-Busch also swept the American-style specialty lager category with Hurricane High Gravity taking gold, Natural Ice the silver and Busch Ice with the bronze.
“Participating and being recognized at the Great American Beer Festival is a great honor for any brewer,” said Doug Muhleman, group vice president, Brewing Operations and Technology, Anheuser-Busch, Inc. “The festival is a celebration of beer culture bringing together hundreds of breweries and thousands of beers to be judged by some of the most knowledgeable people in our industry. The dedication and hard work of many people in our company combined to brew these beers, and it’s gratifying to have them recognized. I congratulate our team for their efforts.”
Each fall, brewers and beer enthusiasts from across the country converge on Denver to celebrate the art of brewing and America’s favorite beverage – beer. The annual GABF was held this weekend (Oct. 9 – 11) at the Colorado Convention Center.
Sponsored by the Brewers Association, the GABF brought together more than 2,900 beers in 75 categories to be judged at this year’s GABF competition. The GABF awards are among the most coveted in the beer industry and heralded by the winning brewers in their national advertising. Breweries enter their beers to be judged by the festival's Professional Judge Panel. The Panel awards gold, silver or bronze medals that are recognized around the world as symbols of brewing excellence. The ultimate goal of the Great American Beer Festival Judge Panel is to identify the three beers that best represent each beer-style category as described and adopted by the Great American Beer Festival.
